This week was a fun and a great week for
sure! By the way, just so you know, your pictures are on the way - they are
being uploaded right now as we speak! But, yes, alot is happening here! It's
a crazy area, haha! it's fun for sure and has been super busy! We have
alot of investigators and we have alot progressing very well. Something
different from my last area is alot more people read here than before so
that's been a surprise. We have a baptism coming up - not this week but
next week and it's a man that is 19 years old named Adrian and is really
cool! He was supposed to be baptized
this week but he has been having some problems at home because his
family doesn't want him to be baptized but he said he is now ready to do
it so that was great! Also we have some other people that should be
baptized within a couple of weeks so it's been successful so far. A
crazy thing that happened this week is a man we are teaching that is
pretty old. His family are all recently baptized members and he has
always had interest in our message but we are working on helping him
with the word of wisdom and man has he come far! He has been smoking and
drinking for over 40 years and he has dropped drinking completely but
smoking has been his downfall. He used to smoke over 40 cigarettes a
day!!!!!! But since we have began teaching him and trying to help him he
has moved down soo much! The lord is helping him out alot! He is down
now to 2 to 3 cigarettes a day so he is working hard! We still have a
little more work to do and he will be ready but this guy is strong! It
just goes to show how strong addictions can become. He is so addicted that
he almost has to smoke or else his head just kills him - it's sad but
there is always the solution to be washed and cleared from such bad
habits and that's through the atonement of Jesus Christ. So i'll keep ya'll
updated on him! But I really have a feeling it's going to be pretty
successful here! We had people attend church and
love it and also had some new investigators attend with us so things are
great here - i cant complain for sure!! Yes i am still district
leader just here now and yes my comp is way cool - i like him alot! He is pretty small but he likes to do push-ups and
things which gives me motivation to work out so let's just say all this
blubber is turning in to muscle, haha! Ya its good talking spanish 24&7. I
found out the spanish here is horrible spanish, haha! We have a ton of Latinos in my zone
right now and like 3 from Mexico and other places and they all say that
the spanish here is terrible and that when they first came to the
country they don't understand anything at all, haha. So that made me feel a
little bad just because i want to learn good spanish. My comp is helping me with that just because he talks great and clean spanish so
that's been good for me! And yes of course i have to speak Spanish to my
president he doesn't speak English!
Thanks for sharing the Sunday school lesson
that you all had just because that's so many missionaries mind sets! Honestly it was mine when i first started but i quickly learned that i
was wrong and it's so true like you see some of the best missionaries
here in the mission who aren't like zone leaders or assistants or
anything or maybe not even have like the most baptisms but they are
powerful and great missionaries so thanks for sharing that with me and
refreshing my memory! Also something that i have learned just from
teaching people is we think we always know enough which is not true at
all - we can learn something new every single day if we wanted to - it's just
actually doing it! It seems like alot of people say that they don't
need to listen to us because they are already know the gospel or they
already know everything we have to share that's why it's so great to pick
up habits like getting up early and reading the scrips and putting in
our part to receive the knowledge that god wants us to receive!
Tell dad Happy Fathers day
and i hope it was a great one for him at all! Looks like he was spoiled huh? tell him i love him and that i expect to hear from him
soon - it's been a while, haha! Here they do not celebrate fathers day! Yes i did hit the hump mark - it was crazy! So we decided to make a
cake and order pizza and burn a shirt up on the roof and the another elder that i am
living with named elder Bentley also hit a year in the mission with me
he is from my group so we did it all together! you will get to see the
pictures and all! Well family, thanks so much for the letter it makes me
happy to see you all healthy and happy and doing well! Keep up the hard
work there at home! Know that i love you all and pray for you and your
success! We shall hear from you guys next week have a good one!!
