Mother dear and family!!!
Bani is a super cool place! i love it here!
it's just super confusing because all my other areas i could learn
pretty quick where things are just because there were a bunch of hills and other things -
but here everything looks exactly the same!!!! it's surrounded by huge
awesome mountains that i will have to send you pictures of but then Bani
is in a little valley and it's super flat, haha, no hills at all! But it's a
great area and I think and we will have lots of success here. We have alot going
for us with investigators and so we shall see where things go. I
can't exactly say since it hasn't even been a week but it's just a branch
here so its not too big. Alot of work is to be done here. My companion
is super cool! Like you all know, he is a latino and is a convert of 3
years. The missionaries taught him and he got baptized. He has a twin
brother in the East mission and he is a super hard worker and has a
strong testimony. His mom is a member but his dad isn't so he is out here
trying to help his dad out as well! Paul will be happy to know that he
is from Honduras. He is from the capital it's something like Tegucigalpa or
something to that affect, haha, so that was cool! I told him about Paul and
all so he wants to know what some of his areas were and were he served on his mission to Honduras. At first it was a bit hard talking Spanish 24/7 and also
because his form of talking is way different than Dominicans. He speaks
super formal and clean Spanish and so it's been good with Spanish just
different. I'm used to it now and understand everything he says for
the most part except alot of words with the spanish here is different
than where he is from so he says weird words for different things, haha,
but he is way awesome! i love him and he has a big desire to work! He is
young in the mission - just barely got done being trained! Oh and his name
is Elder Munguia! So that's where we are at here in Bani! The area is
really progressing as well. I have had the best numbers here than i have
had my whole mission. I didn't think we could do it but we got over 60 lessons
taught this week! This kid is a machine and there are a ton of people
receptive to the gospel as far as i can tell but we shall see what
happens! When i figure out and have a little more time here i will
explain more but that's what i've got for now!
Sounds great about your articles and all! i'd love to get them and
read them and i have heard about that kid! that's awesome! i'd love to read
it so send it out! I'm also working
on getting my SD card sent back with Elder Holt. I'll get that done when i
can since he only has 5 weeks left - that's crazy!!! But if i send it home,
i expect to get it sent back with something on it from ya'll as well! And yes next week i will send you guys pictures because the internet
place here is super nice so i'll work on that!
So a little more about the DR and your questions. About the dogs - yes there are a ton of dogs everywhere but also a ton of chickens,
haha! Everyone has chickens and cocks because they like to fight them! But ya you are always seeing chickens and dogs! It's like Mexico - maybe
worse with how many there are! Wow - we haven't been to Mexico in forever! That's cool you guys
are headed down there - that should be fun! Even though things are super
crazy in Mexico, i heard, haha! Well in this area the members don't feed us
very often. We are more on our own unlike Bayona. They always fed us but
now it's back to cooking on Sundays and things but we live with another
companionship as well as a Dominican and an American! So it's been good! For
lunches we eat out or we just cook in the house like rice and meat and
beans or spaghetti or whatever we feel like! i cook at times for myself
but i'm not the best at cooking so i usually don't cook for the others,
haha! I have learned some things! The new house is also super good just
because there is always light and water which is super rare here so
that's been cool!
Sounds like you all are super busy and got a lot to do! What is Morgan doing for summer school? Sounds like it's still school time for
her, haha, but at least it's only 3 weeks! Is jordan the scout master
or what? that's cool! That's crazy Kaleb is entering the mtc! Where was he
going again? We have a lot of family on missions now - it's awesome! I didn't even know Casey Cole was headed home until you sent me that
picture - that's crazy! Tell him congrats and all! Well family, keep going strong and know that i love you all! Sounds like everything is in order there! know that i'm happy and healthy
and doing well loving the new area and the mission! It's crazy that i
hit a year this week! The hump mark is crazy! But ya'll have a great
week - know that i love you and pray for you and your success! We
shall talk again soon!
Love Elder Reidhead
