Email 5/28/2012

Dear family and all!

I'm doing fantastic today!  We went over and played some ball at the stake center.  My team never lost today, by the way, haha!   I got to see Elder Stewart and talk with him and just relax as little so it's been a great pday that's for sure!  My week also turned out to be great!  We had a  lot of success and progress with some of our investigators even though some not as much as others.  Yes the elections are over and they have been for a while.   Where i am at they weren't too crazy.   It is pretty relaxed here as you could tell we were able to email still.  We weren't able to leave and work but they said that we can email so it must have been crazy where Elder Maner was at or something - that's in San Cristobal.   As far as i know everyone is safe and doing fine!

That's so crazy - i didn't even know it was memorial weekend, haha!  And today is my brother Bridger's bday.  That's great!  Can't believe he would be 15!   Are you guys going to at least keep the tradition up and send up balloons to the air?  Sounds like you and dad are kicking back and enjoying life!   How is Clayton doing?  Sounds like he is still socializing around and doing good?  When does Tyler Johnson leave on his misson or has he not even gotten his call?  That's cool Remington is going to Nicaragua.  We have an elder from Nicaragua right now in our zone.  They speak so clear and are easy to understand so let him know that and tell him congrats!   Big old jeffrey bench pressing 410!? Hahahaha - that kid is a beast i tell you what - that's crazy!   He still has one more year of football right?  He is going to be lighting people up!   That's the strong old Reidhead spirit i like to hear about! Speaking of that, everyone knows the Reidheads.   There is a member of the seventy that came and talked to us named Elder Anderson from Mesa AZ.   Well i saw him and went over there and talked to him a little and he asked where i was from and so i said up north in Heber and he looked at my name tag and got a grin and was like to you got relatives up north in Snowflake and all around up there -  so of course i said yes sir!   He was like, they are great people and he turns to my comp and was like - you are very lucky to have a Reidhead comp, they are very hard workers.   I thought that was something very interesting and it struck me to the core - let me tell ya.   If that's one thing that has changed my work ethic or how i look at the mission it has alot to do with that.  I got to thinking wow am i representing my name out here?   Am i a hard working missionary and following the footsteps of my ancestors and all them!?   That actually happened a couple of weeks ago and has really been on my mind so i thought that was way cool!   So don't you all forget whose name you all represent back there at home!

It also sounds like you all had a great week and things just keep on progressing there back at home! I'm grateful to hear that!   Good old Elder Arnett - that's awesome!  I'm happy for the guy - tell him hi for me and congrats!  And that's crazy Hudson is married and I in fact do know Andrew Nichols! That's awesome as well!   Wow - talk about the family expanding - everyone is having babies, haha! Thanks for sharing that experience with me about the sister missionaries, that's way awesome!  Sounds like they like going over to the house from time to time.  That's cool!  How is the other sister missionarie's English coming along?   This week was a lot of success.   We found a family that we have been teaching.   A mother with 2 kids and they are progressing very well!   The family that i have been telling you all about for the past little while aren't doing so great.  They are having problems and are thinking about separating so it's sad but that's where we are.   Something that is  honestly so amazing is the man of the relationship has done soo much.  It's unbelievable!  He was addicted to drugs and drinking and partying and we began teaching him and had the most spiritual lessons and experiences with him.  He fell at times back into drugs and other things but one day he entered the walls of the church building and came to church for the first time.   He had long shaggy hair and he came to church and right after church he took off and cut his hair because he said he is done living his old life so he cut his hair.   He dropped drinking and drugs too.   Then after, his wife saw the change and wanted to know more.   But now she is not progressing and doesn't want alot to do with the church.  We had a super great lesson with him and her where tears were shed and then he came out and said that nothing is going to stop him from becoming a member and so he is wanting to be baptized this week before i leave.   We shall see what happens.   I love the guy so much!   He is crazy cool and has been through more than enough!   I will let you know what happens with him and all!  There are always things that are hard in our lives.  There is a quote i like and maybe i can share it word for word next week but it talks about trials and says that trials are what make us strong and polished in our saviors eyes.!   Just like President Spencer w. Kimball said about Pres. Eyring's moms funeral.   Pres. Eyrings mom had suffered alot before her death and Pres. Kimball said that she didn't suffer because she was a sinner or did anything wrong God was just "polishing" her up a little more so she can shine!   So be grateful for whatever you go through good or bad because it's for your benefit!   I think i have taken enough of your guys time - do know that i love you all so much! Thanks for your support i hope things continue to go well for you all!  We shall talk soon!

Love,  Elder Reidhead
