Email 8/29/2011

Hey mother and family!!

That's right - another week come and gone - it's crazy! It feels like i was just sitting here writing an email ha-ha. But this definitely has been a fabulous week that's for sure!  One full of good memorable experiences. Sorry to hear it was a crazy week for you and you aren't feeling the greatest - get better!!!!!!!  Hurricane Irene passed and it didn't hit us very hard.   Of course, like I said last week, it always rains here so it was still alot of rain going on but only one day where it was pretty windy and things so no real affect from it or anything, which is good!

My second week was very crazy! We found some new investigators which is always great and got another baptism date for some others as well.  One that sticks out to me is this older gentleman we are teaching, he is very humble and LOVES the lord very much.  He can't see to well out of one eye and has some difficulties but he is very very humble.   I felt the spirit very strong with him!  And even though i couldn't catch every single thing he was saying, I could tell he was saying a prayer that was sincere and it wasn't just one that you go with the motions with - it was awesome! Another investigator is a girl that is very interested - especially in Joseph Smith. The other day in her house, we were teaching her and her mom kept trying to distract her and finally she was just like mom stop I'm way interested in this message and in Joseph Smith!  So I invited her to be baptized and she accepted which is good,  but it will have to wait for a very long time because with girls you have to wait at least 3 months before you can baptism them to make sure they are committed and all and not just listening because we are American - haha!   Then there is our investigator that got baptized!!  The best experience of my life!!! I actually had the opportunity to baptize him!  I was a little nervous but way excited for the opportunity! I think he was one that I promised to come and visit in the pre-earth life. He is a very humble guy and we now hope to have him ready to baptize his own son on September 17th which would be way awesome!!!!! My first baptism was on Clayton's birthday so tell him that was my present for him, haha! But again, yes this week has been very great!

My companion is a cool guy!!  I like him alot! He actually knows Tiffany Prince he said.  Yes he is a little trunky of course, but he doesn't let that get in the way at all!  We work really hard or at least I feel like we are, haha! I'm dead tired when i get home at nights. Especially yesterday.  We had a fast and it was hard! It's just so hot and humid that I sweat and sweat and my head was killing me - I think I got dehydrated but I've  been drinking all day today so it's all good, haha. But it was a great experience.  Elder Phillips  really helps me out and includes me in the lessons and things which I love and which is part of the new program. I'm actually supposed to be able to train at the end of 12 weeks I mean it's not likely but that's what they hope for is that we will progress that much.  I've already grown so much in the language. Talking with Elder Phillips, he said I'm doing way good, which makes me feel good.  He says I'm doing stuff now that took him awhile to do and it's not that I know how to speak or anything, I just try to say whatever and usually they understand me pretty well, haha! But ya I for sure got a great trainer  - he is a cool elder for sure!

Man madre - it sounds like you need to get better!! (Another sinus infection) But that's crazy with the heat! It's so hot there hahaha!  (Desert heat - 115 degrees this past week here in good ole' Mesa, AZ.)  Glad to hear the business is still progressing and that you and dad are plugging along!!!!  Keep it up! Tell dad to keep going to the temple that's way awesome!!I  love the temple! We actually get to go September 3rd so I'm excited for that!  I love you mom and dad!   Keep being the amazing parents you are!!  As for Morgs - glad to hear she had a good birthday and all... I cant believe she is 17 either!  That's crazy! Tell her good job on getting called on at Stake Conference, that's really awesome! Tell her to continue to be an example and that I love her alot!  As for Clayton - tell him i love him!  I hope he had a good birthday even though it doesn't sound like the greatest! Tell him to keep working hard and things will be put into place.  Has he heard anything about his lineman job?  As for the Johnson family - tell them I love them as well! Crazy to hear how much Beck has grown already!  So crazy!  I hope they have fun at Lake Powell  - that should be way fun! I saw in the email from Coach Tenney that Snowflake killed Holbrook this pass friday huh?  Tell Paul to keep his bro in shape and snowflake better do something this year, haha!  Tell Thunder and Rachel congrats on the anniversary!!!!  That's great!  Love them both and glad to hear all is continuing to go well for them as well!!  That would be way cool if you all could go to Fossil Creek, its way nice there! Im so glad to hear everything is going great with everyone and all! I love you all so very much!!!

As for me - everything is amazing! A great week this week and I'm loving it here in the Dominican Republic!  Thanks for sharing the little idea you learned in that class I might just have to give that a try! Tell sister Dora I love her and hope she is doing great! Just keep bearing your testimony and doing your best - that's all you can do!  That definitely would be nice if she could return and all.

I'm so glad you had a good week and all is well!  Get better and know you all are in my prayers!  It is some wild and exciting times out here and I love it!!!  It sounds like my prayers are being answered which is great!  It would be great to hear from everyone as well!  I hear alot from my lovely mother about everyone so that's nice!  I love you so much mom! You and the family are the Bestest ever! Have a fabulous week!!! Love you all SO much!  Until next week.....

Love,

Elder Reidhead
